Galena and Sphalerite on Quartz
The Kruchev dol Mine is the best location in Madan at this time. Superb galenas in combination with sphalerite, quartz and chalcopyrite are being found in a variety of pockets on two major producing levels, namely, the 450 and 500. Some of the finest specimens in the history of Madan are now available. This is a bright and shiny metallic group of crystals with highly modified surfaces and apparent dissolution and re-growth features. The dominant forms are cubes and octahedrons with multiple spinel twins. Very fine small cabinet specimen from mining in 2006. 3.5 x 7.5 x 8 cm.
