About Us

North Star Minerals, LLC is a sole proprietorship started in October, 1984 by Ross C. Lillie. Mr. Lillie graduated from Michigan Technological University in 1979 and was employed as an exploration geologist with Pennwalt Corporation from 1979-1984 supervising core drill operations in the southern Illinois fluorspar district. The mineral dealership acquired and sold southern Illinois minerals exclusively from 1984-1995, when the mines closed permanently in 1995, the business switched tracks to handle worldwide minerals with an emphasis on Romania, Russia, Kosovo and Bulgarian locations. The business is technically still a sole proprietorship but is run with considerable assistance from Cathy Lillie.
