Chalcopyrite on Fluorite, Sub-Rosiclare Level, Annabel Lee Mine, Ozark-Mahoning Company, Harris Creek District, Southern Illinois, Mined c. 1988, Tolonen Collection, Small Cabinet 4.8 x 8.0 x 12.0 cm, $450. Online 1/15. SOLD.
Lustrous zoned light purple and pastel yellow fluorite with associated chalcopyrite. This is a real rarity from the district as the main crystal, 8.5 cm, is curved. The curvature is from stress likely induced from settling in the pocket during crystallization. One small point of attachment as all other surfaces are re-crystallized. Advance mining ca. 1988 during the great specimen producing days of the mine. Tolonen Collection. Entered into Ross C. Lillie Collection database as RCL2522.
