Rare specimen of quartz on fluorite showing late-stage, oriented druse of colorless quartz on purple fluorite. Collected circa 2017 from exposed mine workings in the Hastie Quarry on Lead Hill. In excellent condition and a fine miniature from a rare location. The quartz/fluorite association points to a location on the Sub-Rosiclare Horizon and a geographic spot somewhere on the north-east side of Lead Hill likely near the Cave-in-Rock Mine. Note: this is the LAST chance to acquire new material from Lead Hill. I have been pleased to assist the Illinois State Geological Survey on a revised mine map of the district. As such, the updated survey of the west Hastie quarry shows Lead Hill as nearly consumed.  Entered into Ross C. Lillie database as RCL2755.
