Elongated mound of quartz with associate purple fluorite. The specimen has no point of attachment as it was found loose in a mud pocket. The Cave-in-Rock Mine is one of the oldest in the district started near the end of the 19th century and worked sporadically for a few decades until closure c. 1930s-early 1940s. Specimens from here that are accurately documented are incredibly rare. Collected by Ross Lillie in 1981. Minor edge chafing on one small spot near edge. Roy Smith Collection M864. Mr Smith states: "Ross Lillie collected specimen from mine in Summer 1981 & I purchased from him at 2/88 Tucson show. A local specimen."
