The Deardorff Mine was the first ore body mined by Ozark-Mahoning in Cave-in-Rock and it was also the richest. The shaft, started in 1937, was installed by Mahoning Mining Company several years before the company merged with Ozark Chemical. This fine miniature shows the classic quartz druse over colorless fluorite with secondary light, rosy purple fluorite overgrowth. In great condition with only very trivial edge chafing typical of these very early specimens. Mined c. 1950s. Bynum Collection.
