In August 1974, a pocket of yellow barite was accidentally found during installation of the underground tool shop in the Gaskins Mine.  The pocket, about 10 feet in length and 2 feet in height, produced the finest yellow barite ever discovered in the district.  This specimen is a classic group of glassy-luster straw yellow barite to 2.5+ cm on blue and purple fluorite. Note the sawtooth terminations and internal yellow zoning as classic from this famous find.
