Celestite, Sub-Rosiclare Level, Livingston Trend, Annabel Lee Mine, Ozark-Mahoning Company, Harris Creek District, Southern Illinois, Mined May 1991, ex. Roy Smith Collection, Miniature, 3.5 x 4.2 x 6.5 cm, $250. Online Nov. 21.
Prior to the opening of the Annabel Lee Mine, celestite was an exceedingly rare mineral from Southern Illinois. However, a series of pockets were found in the late 1980's that rewrote the book for celestite occurrences in the district. This specimen is a group of discoidal crystals with bright luster and classic light blue-gray color. In top condition.
