Mounded aggregate of fine, shiny calcite with a slightly hollow center on base that indicates etching and dissolution of a previous species: likely barite. This is an exceptionally fine example of a type of calcite distinctive of the Bethel Horizon. An older specimen from mining ca. 1970s. Provenance: Janet Schmitt of Forever Minerals; to Charles M. Noll #CN4122; donated to Marquette University-Milwaukee; brokered by Seaman Museum to North Star Minerals. Very fine condition.
