The Deardorff Mine produced what are likely the largest and finest sphalerite crystals from the district over a 30 plus year span. This piece is one of the largest and finest miniature examples I have seen. The main crystal is nearly 5 cm across and stands just about 4 cm high. The luster is very fine and there is a nice association with chalcopyrite. Typical of the deposit, there is no point of attachment. A top quality specimen from mining ca. 1950s-1960s. Charles Noll collection #CN5053. Entered into Ross C. Lillie database as RCL2596.
