Nice miniature from a classic northeast US locality.  Rarely seen on the market today. Deep reddish-brown almandine with associated feldspar matrix.  Nice provenance-ex. Yale College.  On one side there is what appears to be a broken face however there are a couple of display views that make this inconsequential.  Lafayette label says "famous old-time Maine quarry".
