An undulating plate of creamy/clear, lustrous barite serves as the matrix for grayish/black, bladed stibnites richly grouped over the surface. There are two phases of barite precipitation, the first as transparent, sharply bladed crystals to 5 mm, the second phase as druse encrusting one side of the stibnites: "Snow on the Roof". A close examination of the 1st phase barite reveals light reddish inclusions of oriented realgar. Mined ca. 1970s-early 1980s. A superlative stibnite in top condition and an absolute classic from Cavnic. Provenance: Jan Buma collection #960812; to North Star Minerals; to Wouter van Tichelen #200440801.
