Silver, Kearsarge Lode, Kearsarge Complex, Lake Superior Copper District, Houghton County, Michigan Small cabinet 3 x 4.7 x 7 cm $8500. Online 4/1.
Beautiful group of silver crystals showing arborescent structure and fine three dimensional form classic from the famous amygdaloid deposits of the Kearsarge Lode. On the 'back' of the piece is a tiny flat spot (5-1.2mm) where the silver was perhaps removed from a larger mass by the miner. An excellent, rich native silver from the district and very difficult to obtain in today's market. Mined c. early 1900s. David Dinsmore Collection S209; acq. Bergmann minerals. No point of attachment and much more impressive in person.
