Charles Noll, a native of Wisconsin, was in the banking business for most of his life. He collected for most of his adult life and amassed a vey sizable collection of several thousand specimens. His will stated the collection be donated to Marquette University (his alma mater) upon his demise but as Marquette has no geology or mining department the university decided to release the collection. The collection was broad in nature.
