Dr. H. Perry and Anne Bynum Collection

Perry and Anne Bynum lived in the Memphis, Tennessee area where Mr. Bynum worked as an osteopathic physician. They were instrumental in the start-up of the Memphis Geological Society, c. 1955, and made frequent field trips to the great Midwest classic locations of the day including their special favorite, the fluorspar deposits of Southern Illinois. The collection has excellent suites of minerals from other great producers of the era, eg., the Tri-State District, many Midwest limestone quarries, and Mexico. The Bynum's were close friends of Dr. Fred Pough and made several collecting trips together in the 1950s and 1960s. The minerals I have acquired from their collection are nearly all from the Cave-in-Rock District, mined c. 1950s-1970s.
